Wilkes County is located along US-421 – a major four-lane freeway, 30 minutes east of Boone, North Carolina and just 20 minutes to I-77 and under an hour to I-40. Approximately 90 minutes to Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Piedmont Triad International Airport. Wilkes County also has one of the best small-town general aviation airports in North Carolina.
