In November 2010 the Wilkes EDC embarked on a five-year campaign to raise money from the private sector for economic development. Thus, the Local Expansion & Attraction Program (LEAP 2016) was created. The funds, used to supplement the public dollars that provide organizational funding, are used to significantly impact job creation and investment in Wilkes County.
